CLOISONNÉ (BETA)

I’m fascinated by drawing and image making processes, especially in translation when the natural resistance of materials changes the original design.

These pendants were made during a workshop while I was testing what material processes I might want to invest in as a maker. I had some on-the-job training in silver jewelry assembly, as well as research experience handling artisanal pieces in high end gallery retail.

We used a front loading kiln to apply wire and enamel layers. I tried both 999 silver foil and enamel bases on dapped copper discs.

With a limited toolset, I created a rudimentary setting out of hand-hammered sterling silver wire for the orange floral pendant. The other piece has a “sugar” glaze texture (not yet set).
